New air fence and barriers for Wanganui Motorcycle Club

A major surprise for the Wanganui Motorcycle Club, NZCT awarded the club $50,000 for the purchase of high-tech crash air bags and plastic barriers. Thanks to this grant, the club can keep the safety standards as high as possible for the protection of their competitors and spectators at race meetings.

Glenn Brown is a committee member of the Wanganui Motorcycle Club: "Air bags are crucial for safety. Our existing stock of air bags has limited the seriousness of accidents for the riders. Over the years, the club has increased the number of crash air bags to replace traditional hay bales and the like. The club plans to have the entire Cemetery Circuit fully protected with these modern crash air bags over time. They don't come cheap, but are worth every penny."

The Wanganui Motorcycle Club has been around since 1914. The club prides itself on running an active amateur sports club promoting motocross and road racing. Over the many years, the club has worked hard to offer first-class facilities which riders of all ages can use safely. The club is well known for its Cemetery Circuit Wanganui Motorcycle Race on Boxing Day.
