NZCT Supports $30,000 Roof Upgrade for Stratford Eltham Rugby Club

New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has awarded a $30,000 grant to Stratford Eltham Rugby and Sports Club to re-roof its clubrooms, ensuring the facility remains safe, dry, and fit for community use year-round.

Club Captain Nathan McDonald says, “Our clubrooms are a critical community asset in need of urgent repair, with serious roof deterioration causing leaks and safety concerns."

Aaron Tosland, Club Chairman says, “The clubrooms are where we meet, get changed, and support each other. A new roof will make it warmer, drier, and more welcoming for everyone.”

Quintin Oakes, team manager and volunteer adds, “Our clubrooms are used by players and families every week. This roof upgrade will protect our gear and give our volunteers a reliable space to host teams and visitors.”

Ian Smith, life member says, “As a long-time supporter, I’ve seen how important the club is for our community. Upgrading the roof helps keep the clubrooms usable for everyone year-round.”

NZCT General Manager of Grants, Marketing and Communications Ben Hodges says, “We’re delighted to help keep a roof over this club’s head. This grant is another strong example of how NZCT’s fundraising model delivers wider community benefit – supporting local groups while also creating opportunities for local suppliers and contractors. We’re able to fund outcomes like this thanks to the responsible gaming partnership we share with the Empire Hotel.
