New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has awarded a $10k grant to Taupo AFC to fund Junior and Senior uniforms, helping ensure players can take the field with pride while keeping costs down for families.
Club President Greg Willars says “This support helps us keep football accessible without adding extra cost to families.”
The funding supports one of the region’s largest football clubs, which has more than 650 members and fields multiple teams across junior, federation, and senior grades.
Finn Westerman, Junior Player adds, “The support for football kits means everyone gets the same chance to play, no matter their situation. It makes our team stronger because no one gets left out.”
Cherie Day, Senior & Junior Coach, Club Secretary says, “TAFC is committed to building a strong community feel, and thanks to this generous grant from NZCT, we’ve been able to do exactly that. It’s been fantastic to see our federation players take the field with pride in their new kit, creating a clear connection with our senior side. A great step forward for our club.”
Travis Day, Junior Player adds, “Thanks NZCT! Feels pretty cool running out in a kit that matches our seniors.”
NZCT’s General Manager of Grants, Marketing and Communications Ben Hodges says “We’re delighted to help reduce costs for participation. Cost should not be a barrier to young people participating in and enjoying the benefits of sport . NZCT can fund this community good thanks to the fundraising partnership we share with the Lucky Lizard via their host responsible gaming lounge.
