New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has awarded a grant of $9,450 to Tauranga Sports Club for new jerseys, shorts, and socks for their three Senior rugby teams, ensuring players have the right equipment to perform at their best.
Club President Kayne Henderson says, "This generous grant from NZCT will allow our Seniors players to look and feel like a professional team and reduce costs. The new gear will showcase our club’s brand, provide consistent, high-quality kit for our players, and keep rugby affordable and accessible for everyone."
Tauranga Sports Club runs multiple programmes for players of all ages, from junior teams through to seniors, as well as touch rugby and netball competitions, helping keep sport inclusive and accessible in the Bay of Plenty region. The funding will replace worn-out uniforms for all three Senior teams at once, making it easier for the club to maintain a professional and consistent appearance. The new jerseys will be used during training, matches, and tournaments, giving players confidence on the field while reducing the financial burden on the club and its members.
Premier Head Coach Mat Black says, "There’s always a buzz among the players when we’re able to obtain new uniforms and the modern-day jerseys certainly give the players that extra air of confidence."
Team Captain Caleb Crosbie adds, "We’re always grateful for new uniforms. The modern jerseys look really cool, have some great innovation, and even better, they aren’t stretched or smelly!"
NZCT’s General Manager of Grants, Marketing and Communications, Ben Hodges, says, "It’s great to help reduce financial barriers to participation and to see teams getting out there, having fun. NZCT can fund this community good thanks to the fundraising partnerships we share with local hospitality venues via their responsible gaming lounges.”
