Coromandel Area School is over the moon about a $23,395 grant from NZCT for an enclosed trailer for the transportation of sports/event equipment and event management centre.
Coromandel Area School is a co-educational state school, with a current role of 250 students encompassing Years 1-13. Nestled between the Hauraki Gulf and the base of our sacred maunga Tokatea, Coromandel is known for its cultural & historical significance, as well as farming, aquaculture, conservation, tourism, and creative industries. The school has a rich and unique history and has been at the heart of the local community since 1875.
Locally, we identify many opportunities that we can participate in, making learning relevant, authentic, and engaging. Our unique school environs are spectacular and our increased connectivity with community and the Coromandel region provide a superb foundation for quality school experiences for all students and their families. Sport is a huge part of these experiences.”
Rural schools are increasingly challenged with the viability and supply of mainstream sports, recreational activities, and events. Located within a geographically isolated area, Coromandel Area School reinforces its’ commitment to developing an inclusive and sustainable sport culture. It aims to continue revitalising and growing school and community sport.
Coromandel Area School successfully embraces these challenges so that young people and the wider community in general can enjoy access to sporting opportunities. The increasing demand for new forms of exercise has created a need for new event management and transportation logistics. The success of this funding application recognises the positive role that sport plays in our community and the vital importance of having the right equipment in order to provide it.
