Netball Manawatu Centre

Players, Coaches and Staff alike can get on and concentrate on their game knowing the Netball Manawatu Centre has received a grant of $110,000 for salaries from NZCT. This will aid development in many areas.

Players and staff observed and commented:

“The growth of development from grassroots to representative level has seen an incredible increase and is proving success in all areas.”

“Umpires have been given opportunity to achieve accolades. Having the right support systems in place has provided many opportunities for future growth and succession.”

“There is more opportunity for all players, coaches, and umpires to develop and strengthen their own capabilities.”

“It’s so inspiring to watch not only adult athletes compete, but also the up-and-coming players from grassroots communities putting their best foot forward.”

General Manager Ashleigh-Kate Araroa-Waerea says -

The support we’ve received from NZCT in the past has had a massive positive impact on our community as well as our staff members who facilitate amazing netball programmes across Aotearoa. With this funding, we will not only be able to retain the high performing team members we already have in place, but also cater to the growing community we have created over the past few years.

Our reach extends as far and wide as Taihape, Rangitikei, Horowhenua, and Dannevirke/Tararua. Supporting smaller centres to grow capacity, and work together to provide opportunities for their people to participate in. Locally, we deliver programmes in schools, offer development for coaches and umpires, and attend where possible any initiatives driven by our members in the community.

Our purpose is to provide a service that continues to grow the game and retain those people already involved. Over the years, NZCT has supported many successes and this generous grant will help our netball centre significantly, supporting thousands of people in our community.
